A hidden gem chest that has just opened a few months back is going to make an impact as a happening place on Brigade road soon. Cobaja is a new place started just above the famous Hotel Ramprasad next to Double Decker. It is spread across two floors with a normal AC seating place on the first floor and Rooftop setup on the second. They serve one of the best Karnataka cuisine especially Coastal Karnataka and North Karnataka. They also have a bar set up where they serve cocktails with quarters. It gives a full-on local feeling.
Ambiance: The rooftop decor is very beautiful, just like a costal setup. A first-floor setup is also a cute place having a normal table seating at one side and a mattress seating on another. This place is filled with photographs and pictures of famous poets, film actors of Karnataka. They have pics for some local words with translations like Turimane, Dove etc. You might recognize some slangs that you use daily.
Food: Baby Corn Rava Fry was a Konkan specialty with its nonveg counterpart being famous, this one was good with the green chutney.
Mushroom Sukka and Vegetable Sukka was a Mangalorean dish with a dry curry made with mushroom and coconut. Sukka is always made with paneer, vegetables as well as chicken.
I tried the Mushroom Sukka which was amazing. This is best served with Neer Dosa. The Veg Sukka consisted of Sweet Potato and Tapioca, which was the best combination and I loved it.
Paneer Ghee Roast was also a coastal dish. If you have ever lived in Mangalore or Udupi you might have tried this. This was good too.
Cocktails: The quarter was a surprise, but we loved them. Kudos to the bartender who makes these drinks that are amazing.
I tried the Paan Mojhito and it was amazing.
Litchi chili Martini was a spicy cocktail which will keep your taste buds on high alert.
Tequila Sunrise was also my favorite one.
For the main course: I had Veg Thali with Jolada Roti and Badnekai Palya. Something that every Kannadiga love to eat.
For desserts: They served some crazy surprises and even though we were full, we enjoyed these desserts.
Palada Payasam was good. It was amazing and a must try.
Holige with Ghee and Milk was a perfect dessert that I had here. Best served hot with ghee dripping. I loved it. It is a recommended item on the menu.
Phenni With Badam milk is a dish mostly served in weddings as a dessert. Here they served it with Badam Milk and it was amazing. But I felt it would have been better with some powdered sugar.
If you are a fan of coastal cuisine you must try this place. I had a great time here with my friends. I would love to visit this place again.
