Random Thought #6: The Rear Window Approach

Each one of us, we all face hurdles in our lives. Now, sometimes a few hurdles cloud our mind to the solution finding approach. It depends on us whether the hurdle will make us or break us. As soon as we fall into the claws, we either isolate ourselves for the time or we try to seek advice from someone who is rational and whose judgment is not clouded by the burden of the situation. But, we always have a doubt in mind whether the solution will work or not. The best we rely on our own judgment, we do not blindly rely on others’.

Here, we can take help from taking the approach which we can call as “The Rear Window Approach”. The reason we can call it so is because when we are driving, we are taking all the work on ourselves. We have to focus on the clutch, accelerator, breaks, gears, steering wheel, lights, gas, indicators, rear view mirror and everything. Sometimes making the driver lose the real view going out there. But when he puts himself in the side seat, he gives up on many of these responsibilities and giving up on such responsibilities releases the tension he is carrying. Here, the side seat driver will be actually immersed in taking a look at the bigger view, instead of focussing just on the intended one. In fact, the driver now will be able to advise the one who is driving then (However the side seat driving is very annoying most of the times). Your mind will mostly be unoccupied now because your responsibilities are much more limited, that gives your mind space to process stuff and process it more easily. This will help in thinking more precise and clear.

READ  The Comeback

The same applies to the hurdles we face in life. Just pause for a moment, clear your head and let the fog, that had occupied your thinking at the time of the hurdle, fade away. Instead of driving, take the rear window and enjoy the ride. Eventually, your thinking will be in tandem. It’ll not give you ease enough to sleep, per say, but it would simply mean that you are ready to give the steering to someone else while you enjoy the ride. The thing which we get through such an act is the time to think and assess our speed, the options of directions available and control on steering our life through the journey. So what the speed reduces? Or our vehicle slows down a bit? It is only a momentary slowdown. But it’ll help us get back to the driving seat with a much more refreshed mind and a better-relaxed approach.
